Congratulations! Whether your child is graduating from The College of Charleston or The Citadel, you have so much to celebrate.

College years are filled with hard work, growth, late nights, new friendships, and more than a few phone calls home. These milestone weekends are a chance to pause, take it all in, and revel In how far your child has come.

We are Brandy and Chad, the owners and hosts of The Charleston Suites in Cannonborough-Elliotborough on the downtown Charleston peninsula. As parents ourselves, we know how meaningful it is to have the family together for the moments you will remember for years. The Charleston Suites give families a comfortable place to stay, make breakfast, get ready for the ceremony, and relax together between events.

When you book directly with us, you are talking to us—not a call center—and we are always happy to help you find the best suite for your family.

Stay Together in Downtown Charleston

Our suites are located approximately one mile from both Cistern Yard, where College of Charleston graduation is held, and The Citadel.

It is about a 20-minute walk or a short Uber ride to either campus, depending on which suite you choose. You will also be close to King Street shopping and some of Charleston’s best restaurants, making it easy to enjoy the city without driving in from Mount Pleasant or West Ashley for every event.

Instead of separating into multiple hotel rooms, your family can have individual bedrooms, a kitchen, and space to spend time together. Make coffee before an early ceremony, keep everyone’s favorite snacks in the kitchen, come home to change before dinner, and enjoy those quieter moments that often become some of the best memories of the weekend.

Find the Right Suite for your Family

First-floor Suites

If grandparents are joining you or someone in your group would prefer fewer stairs, one of our first-floor suites may be the best fit.

The Charles Suite has two bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps four. It includes in-unit laundry and one reserved parking space, making it a comfortable choice for a smaller family.

The Victoria Suite has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps six. It includes a porch and one reserved parking space and works especially well when multiple generations are traveling together.

The Isla Suite has four bedrooms and two bathrooms and sleeps eight. It is our largest first-floor suite and a wonderful option when the whole family wants to stay together. Parking is not automatically included, but you can ask us about reserving a nearby space.

Upstairs Suites

The Harper Suite has three bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps six. It includes a balcony, one reserved parking space, and family gear such as a Pack ’n Play, highchair, and infant tub for families bringing little ones.

The Emerson Suite has three bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps six. With one king bed, one queen bed, and two twin beds, it is an easy setup for parents traveling with children. It also includes a balcony and one reserved parking space.

The Poppy Suite has three bedrooms and one bathroom and sleeps six. This unit includes two balconies and a tandem driveway, so you can have two cars.

Bringing a larger family?

If your family needs more room, you can reserve two separate suites in the same house:

This gives grandparents, siblings, or extended family their own kitchens and living spaces while keeping everyone just a few steps apart.

Our suites are intended as comfortable accommodations rather than event venues, so we cannot host graduation parties or receptions. The yards at our duplex properties are shared spaces where guests can sit and unwind.

Rosemont is our private home with a fenced yard and four parking spaces, but it requires a stay of 30 nights or longer.

A few helpful details

Most suites include one reserved parking space, while The Poppy Suite includes two. The Isla Suite does not automatically include parking, so please ask us about availability if you will be bringing a car.

Several suites have in-unit laundry, and every suite has a kitchen. Our homes are in a residential neighborhood, with quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Graduation and Parents Weekend are especially busy times in downtown Charleston, so we recommend making dinner reservations and reserving your suite early.

Let Us Help

Your child has worked hard to reach this moment. We hope your time in Charleston gives you the chance to celebrate that accomplishment, reconnect as a family, and make a few wonderful memories together. If you want to connect with us and tell us how many people are coming, whether anyone needs a first-floor suite, and how many cars you plan to bring, we would be happy to personally help you choose the Charleston Suite that fits your family best.
